Fear is one of the enemy’s greatest weapons. Satan uses fear, lies, and false accusations to weaken believers, distract us from God’s truth, and steal our peace. But as Christians, we are not left defenseless. God has given us His Word as a powerful arsenal to combat fear and every fiery dart of the enemy.
This post is a go-to tool filled with powerful New Testament verses from the King James Version (KJV) to help you reject lies, stand strong, and live boldly in the victory Christ has won for you.
1. God Has Not Given Us Fear
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7
Whenever fear grips your heart, remember: it is not from God. Fear is a spirit that the enemy sends to destabilize your mind and emotions. But God equips us with power, love, and a sound mind. Stand on this truth when fear tries to speak louder than faith.
Cross-Reference: Romans 8:15, “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
2. Perfect Love Casts Out Fear
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” — 1 John 4:18
Fear torments, but God’s perfect love drives it away. When you are rooted in the love of Christ, fear loses its grip. Meditate on God’s unfailing love daily to strengthen your spirit against fear.
Cross-Reference: John 15:9, “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.”
3. We Are More Than Conquerors
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” — Romans 8:37
The enemy’s lies try to make us feel defeated. But the Word declares that through Christ, we are more than conquerors. Stand in this victorious identity and reject every false whisper of failure or doom.
Cross-Reference: 1 Corinthians 15:57, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
4. Do Not Be Troubled or Afraid
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” — John 14:27
Jesus Himself gives you His peace. Not a fragile peace, but divine peace that surpasses understanding. Guard your heart with His peace, and refuse to entertain fear.
Cross-Reference: Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
5. Casting Down Every Lie
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” — 2 Corinthians 10:5
This verse is one of the most powerful weapons against fear and lies. We are commanded to actively cast down wrong thoughts and bring them captive to Christ’s truth. This includes fearful imaginations such as:
- “I’m afraid I will end up in a bad place.”
- “I’m afraid my health is failing.”
- “I’m worried about someone’s health.”
- “I’m going to lose my job, and everything will collapse.”
These are lies! They exalt themselves against God’s promises of provision, protection, and peace. Combat these thoughts by immediately speaking God’s Word aloud, rejecting the lie, and declaring the truth, cast them out. Remember that all of these lies have to be discerned and once you do, you know this is not coming from our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and then quickly rebuke and cancel the lies with God’s powerful words as your weapon to stomp out these false attacks. Remember the Lord “gives us that authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the powers of the enemy, nothing shall harm us!” — Luke 10:19
These attacks go against the ruler of all, the King of Kings and they shall fall to the obedience of our Lord Jesus Christ for which he reigns over all! The armor of God teaches us to guard our minds, hearts with these weapons (Helmet of Salvation, Belt of truth, Shield of faith, etc..)
- Replace “I will end up in a bad place” with Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” God’s plan is perfect for you and have faith and trust in him that you will not end up in a bad place. It’s about trusting him and knowing he will take care of everything.
- Replace “My health is failing” My health is well with God, for His Holy Spirit dwells within me — I am His sacred temple, unassailable by any affliction (1 Corinthians 6:19). I stand on the life-giving promise of 3 John 1:2: “I wish above all things that you succeed and be in good health, even as your soul prospers,” knowing that inner prosperity will burst forth in my body. By faith I embrace His healing power as I meditate on Isaiah 53:5 — “By his wounds we are healed” — and boldly declare restoration over every cell, every organ, every thought. I cultivate a thankful heart, for “a cheerful heart is good medicine” (Proverbs 17:22), and I guard my mind and emotions, remembering that “above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4:23). I invite the Holy Spirit to renew my strength — “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles” (Isaiah 40:31) — and as I align my soul with Christ’s unshakable promises, I expect complete wholeness — spiritual, emotional, and physical — to rise up from within me.
- Replace “I will lose my job” with Philippians 4:19: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” He is our provider and will always provide in whatever situation, whatever job hurdles we face. This I know always ends up for the God of him which he has never failed me and has provided more than enough for my family and me.
6. God Is for You
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” — Romans 8:31
No accusation, lie, or attack can succeed against a child of God. Fear loses its power when you realize the Almighty stands with you and fights for you.
Cross-Reference: Psalm 118:6, “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?”
7. Walk by Faith, Not by Sight
“(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” — 2 Corinthians 5:7
Fear often feeds on what we see and feel. But as believers, we are called to walk by faith. Trust in the unseen promises of God rather than the temporary troubles before your eyes.
Cross-Reference: Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Conclusion: Fight Fear with God’s Word
Fear is a weapon, but God’s Word is your sword. When lies and accusations come, wield Scripture boldly. Speak it aloud. Pray it fervently. Meditate on it day and night. As you do, the enemy’s schemes will crumble, and God’s perfect peace will reign in your heart.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7
Stand firm, dear believer. The victory is already yours in Christ.
